Welcome to the Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine Laser Acupuncture and Cosmetic of British Columbia!

Greetings, everyone. I am Chen Chao Tsung, a lifelong advisor to the Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners of Great Vancouver, a professor in Taiwan, and the founding president of the Taiwan Society of Chinese Medical Cosmetology. It is a great honor to be invited by President Chu Kuo Hsiang and Zhang Hanying of the Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners of Great Vancouver to write this foreword as an advisor.

In this era of constant change and challenges, the combination of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and medical cosmetology integrates the wisdom of traditional Chinese medicine with the advantages of modern technology. It has become a thriving field, meeting the contemporary demands for quick and convenient solutions while retaining the safety, reliability, and minimal side effects of traditional Chinese beauty treatments. This provides more choices and possibilities for those pursuing health and beauty.

The Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners of Great Vancouver has always promoted the development of laser acupuncture and medical cosmetology within TCM. My connection with the association began when President Zhang Hanying came to Taiwan, seeking experts to aid in advancing TCM medical cosmetology and technical exchanges in British Columbia. I was deeply moved by his enthusiasm. Subsequently, President Zhang further facilitated an invitation from President Chu Kuo Hsiang for me to conduct a three-day medical cosmetology training course in August 2023. Following this, I was honored to be appointed as a lifelong advisor to the association, and I have continued to witness the association’s progress and growth in related fields.

Today, President Chu Kuo Hsiang and President Zhang Hanying are actively promoting laser acupuncture and TCM medical cosmetology in British Columbia. They have established a new website to provide a professional platform for TCM medical cosmetology, sharing the latest research findings, technological advancements, and clinical experiences to foster collaboration and growth among peers. I am delighted to hear this good news, as it will greatly support the development of TCM medical cosmetology in British Columbia.

Here, I sincerely congratulate the Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine Laser Acupuncture and Cosmetic of British Columbia on establishing their new website. I hope that more aspiring practitioners will find inspiration and support here, actively engage in the development of TCM medical cosmetology, and jointly promote the flourishing of TCM medical cosmetology in British Columbia, painting a brighter future for TCM medical cosmetology in the province.

歡迎來到卑詩省中醫雷射針灸與美容醫學會！

大家好，我是陳潮宗，是卑詩省中醫師公會終身顧問，同時也是台灣部定教授及台灣中醫美容醫學會創會理事長。很榮幸能夠受到卑詩省中醫師公會朱國項理事長以及張漢英理事長的邀請，以顧問身份為此撰寫序文。

在這個充滿變化和挑戰的時代，中醫醫美結合了傳統中醫的智慧和現代科技的優勢，成為一個蓬勃發展的領域，而其符合現代人快速、簡便之需求，又能保有傳統中醫美容安全、可靠、幾乎無副作用之優勢，更為追求健康與美麗的人們提供了更多選擇和可能性。

卑詩省中醫師公會一直以來，都相當積極推動中醫雷射針灸與中醫醫美的發展。而我與卑詩省中醫師公會的淵源，始於卑詩省中醫師公會張漢英理事長來到台灣，尋找能協助推動卑詩省中醫醫美與技術交流的專家，當時我深受其熱誠感動，之後張漢英理事長更進一步促成卑詩省中醫師公會朱國項理事長邀約我在2023年8月前去進行為期3天的醫美教學課程，之後，我榮幸地被聘為公會的終身顧問，並持續見證公會在相關領域的進步與成長。

如今，朱國項理事長和張漢英理事長仍持續在卑詩省積極推動雷射針灸及中醫醫美，並為此成立新網站，為中醫醫美提供一個專業交流的平台，分享最新的研究成果、技術進展和臨床經驗，促進同行之間的合作與成長。我很高興聽到這個好消息，這將為中醫美容在卑詩省的發展提供更多助力。

在此，我衷心祝賀卑詩省中醫雷射針灸與美容醫學會新網站的成立，並期許更多的後學們能夠在這裡找到靈感和支持，積極投入中醫美容專業的發展，共同推動中醫美容在卑詩省的蓬勃發展，為中醫美容在卑詩省的未來，描繪出更美好的藍圖。 

Laser acupuncture was introduced to clinical settings in the 1970s as a supplement to conventional acupuncture. Laser acupuncture uses nonthermal laser irradiation on conventional acupoints at low intensity. It can perform acupuncture and moxibustion simultaneously using different pulse waves. In all patient populations, Laser acupuncture may be preferred. This preference is due to its noninvasiveness, comfort, and reduced side effects. Laser acupuncture sessions are shorter than metal needle sessions. Portable Laser acupuncture devices can provide convenient, efficient, and cost-effective therapy.

At a training course convened by Wen-Long Hu and Han-Ching Wang in Vancouver, BC, Canada, in August 2024, a group of TCM clinicians decided to start a professional association dedicated to laser acupuncture therapy. These pioneers, driven by the endless energy of Kuo-Hsiang Chu, brought laser acupuncture to the forefront of Chinese medical science; not only a complementary therapeutic intervention, but also an alternative treatment in its own right. Three months later, the Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine Laser Acupuncture and Cosmetic of British Columbia was formally incorporated as an organization. It is my sincere expectation that ATCMLAC will become the leading professional association dedicated to laser acupuncture treatment.

雷射針灸於20世紀70年代被引入臨床，作為傳統針灸的補充。雷射針灸採用非熱雷射低強度照射常規穴位，它可以使用不同的脈衝波同時進行針和灸。在所有患者群體中，雷射針灸可能是首選。這種偏好是因為它的非侵入性、舒適性和副作用少。雷射針灸療程比金屬針療程短，可攜式雷射針灸設備可以提供方便、高效且經濟的治療。

2024年8月，在胡文龍和王漢卿於加拿大卑詩省溫哥華舉辦的培訓課程上，一群中醫臨床醫生決定成立一個致力於雷射針灸治療的專業學會。這些先驅者在朱國項的積極推動下，將雷射針灸推向了中醫科學的前沿；不僅僅是一種輔助性治療介入，而且是一種替代療法。三個月後，卑詩省中醫雷射針灸與美容醫學會正式成立。我真誠地期望 ATCMLAC 將成為致力於雷射針灸治療的領導專業學會。

本會的籌備理事會由朱國項、張漢英、唐紅、張文君、李俐慧、蘇齡、李紅丹等七位中醫執業者所組成。感謝各位理事為了籌備ATCMLAC的付出。
